  • The Virginia Fallen Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services Memorial

    Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services personnel who died in the line of duty or have been recognized by the Virginia Line of Duty Act in the last year will be honored for their bravery and dedicated public service. This year’s service will pay tribute to: Senior Firefighter Kevin Frye of City of Manassas Fire Department, Firefighter/Paramedic Willard Meiggs of City of Chesapeake Fire Department, Captain Darrell Hamlett of City of Lynchburg Fire Department, and Firefighter Roger Dale Johns of Eagle Rock Volunteer Fire and Rescue. This year’s service will include a keynote address, a Virginia Fire Services Honor Guard procession featuring the Saint Andrew’s Legion Pipes and Drums, a musical performance, and a fire and EMS apparatus display from departments across the state. State flags will be presented to the families of the fallen.

Richmond, the capitol city of the Commonwealth of Virginia, has been a site of significance throughout every era of our nation’s history – pre-Columbian, Colonial, Revolutionary War, Civil War, Civil Rights – and we are still making history in Richmond today. Richmond boasts an innovative, youthful population and a growing reputation for art, music, sport, cuisine, business, and culture. If you are planning to attend the track laps, please enter thru the Service Gate off of Richmond Henrico Turnpike. If you are just attending the event, enter thru Gate 2.
